Today, a judge Shymkiv of the Rivne Appeal Court cancelled the decision of the Rivne Municipal Court, by which local activists Daria Kotsiuruba and Roman Filiuk were pled guilty in violating procedure of peaceful gatherings. In particular, they were alleged in violating Article 185 part 1 of the Administrative Code of Ukraine. However, the Appeal Court in its decision stated that there was no event of a crime and justified both activists. This information was published on the Facebook page of Oleksandra Dvoretska, Executive Director of the “Vostok SOS” NGO. This case is an evidence that police officers exceeded their authority and prevented peaceful assemblies, the right of which is granted by the Constitution of Ukraine.
